Biography
Anne Bruton is a Professor of Respiratory Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southampton. Prior to her promotion in 2006, Anne held a Department of Health post-doctoral research fellowship from 2003-6, one of very few respiratory physiotherapists to receive one of these prestigious national awards. Anne holds degrees in both Physiotherapy and Biological Anthropology (the latter gaining her First Class honours from the University of Cambridge). Her current research interests are related to the management of respiratory conditions, and involve studies from basic science through to clinical trials. She has a particular interest in non-pharmacological approaches to asthma and COPD, such as breathing retraining and pulmonary rehabilitation.
