Dr Elizabeth Cluett

Biography

Elizabeth is Director of Programs for Family, Child and Psychosocial Health and Lead Midwife for Education within the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southampton. In addition to leadership and management of educational programs her teaching expertise are around Midwifery practice, in particular all aspects of intrapartum including pain management, complex conditions within pregnancy, and evidence based practice. Elizabeth research background is within the quantitative paradigm having conducted randomised controlled trials on the use of water during labour and she is the lead reviewer for the Cochrane review on this topic. She current teaches and supervises a wide range of health care professions through education and research activity from undergraduate to doctoral students. In addition Elizabeth maintains her midwifery professional expertise through the provision of care to a small case load of clients within the local maternity unit.
