Event details

Hello! May we become fab pals?

Do you:

  • Live, work or play in Winchester, Southampton or other parts of Hampshire, and have a hidden story to share, or a bold dream to inspire us?
  • Belong to a group/community making and leading change?
  • Run a local business and can’t wait to find imaginative, artful ways to share resources and support others around you?
  • Care about using education, and the arts & culture as a force for good, to co-create fabulous futures together?

Join us for a relaxed afternoon on Winchester School of Art Campus where local friends, students, University staff and artists can meet, make mates, and make music together! We could walk together, make music, chat, and have some coffee and cakes. We wish to get to know our neighbours and find ways to become better ones.

Action : Please bring along a small object that makes a sound.

Who Am I/Who are we

What is Fab Pals?

Fab Pals is a new project led by Kai Syng Tan, an artist working at the University of Southampton. She will be working with and for minority community groups that make positive social change in Winchester and Hampshire.

It is about building new partnerships, friends or ‘pals’ to work together to redefine creative leadership, learn local stories, and centre love in the conversation.

Currently, Kai is visiting and volunteering with local community groups to learn more about social activities in the area and work together to share stories of great local work to more people.

Accessing our activities:

  • The venue is wheelchair accessible. We will be providing signage and a quiet space.
  • We will be conducting video, audio and photographic documentation and also will chat with you. We will seek your informed consent. If you’d prefer not to be recorded, please let us know.
  • For the activity on 28th June, we will be able to cover your transportation/expenses with a small bursary if you are from an under-represented community and/or require support.
