How To Draw A Bicycle

July 6 - August 3

Opening Times: Tuesday – Friday 12 – 6pm // Saturday 12 – 4pm

Do you remember the first time you, or someone you know, rode a bicycle? What does that memory look like?

This summer, The Winchester Gallery features ‘How to Draw a Bicycle’, a participatory exhibition produced in collaboration with Cycle Winchester that brings artists into the gallery to offer hands-on opportunities for visitors to contribute to the exhibition.

All ages are welcome to come and create work for the bicycle wall, recall a favourite cycling memory, be inspired by local creatives making hand-crafted bicycles and cycling-related artworks, and explore what cycling means to you.

‘How to Draw a Bicycle’ collectively shares our stories, memories, and reasons for riding with opportunities to create collaborative artworks that will grow slowly over the duration of the exhibition. From commissioned artists to drop-in workshops, the gallery space will be full of making and creating, supporting everyone to express their views and narratives around how, why and where we ride.

Poster for 'How to Draw a Bicycle.' It has an orange background with white and black typeface. The text on the poster is the same as the information in the page. There is a rectangular box on the left of the poster. It is beige and has the following text in an old-fashioned, slightly faded font: 'Ride a bike. Happiness guaranteed.'
