Fashion & Textile Festival 2013

Winchester School of Art, one of the UK's leading centres for art and design is pleased to host a Festival of Fashion and Textile Design between 9-11 July.  This special three day event will celebrate and share the achievements of our students, staff and alumni.

The festival will include a variety of hands-on workshops aimed at pre-degree students seeking practical experiences within a creative space. Exhibitions spanning fashion photography, fashion illustration, textile design and fashion marketing will all be open and free to visitors.

An industry-led trend presentation on 11 July precedes a special talk by Roger Saul, founder of Mulberry and creative entrepreneur who will be joining us for an informative  and entertaining Q&A session.

Two professionally produced fashion shows featuring the very best work from the School's graduating students and international University partners will culminate in a dazzling professional and industry-facing Gala Fashion Show and Awards presentation with Roger Saul on 11 July, followed by a sparkling reception with entertainment. Shows sponsored by Guillaume Hair and Bobbi Brown for make up design.

Talks

Trend Forecasting - Amanda Bragg-Mollison

Anna Pegg, WGSN Freelance Trend Forecaster and Teaching Fellow in Fashion Marketing will deliver a presentation on 'Macro Trends for Fashion'.  Understanding the consumer, and being able to pinpoint relevant cultural ‘sign posts’ to the future, the shifts and changes, is at the centre of how trends develop. Drawing from research into key issues and influences from technological, environmental, economical, political and cultural domains, students will describe the ‘zeitgeist’, the feeling of the time. Macro trend information will help the audience to understand ‘big’ trends that will be far-reaching for many years to come, so this presentation will be of interest to all.
