We process a wide variety of internships, the following is a glossary of the types of internships that UoS staff can host:

  • Term-time – UoS Internships can be offered as part-time opportunities during the university semesters. We advise that students don’t work more than 10 hours per week alongside their studies.
  • Vacation - UoS Internships can take place during vacation periods (Summer and Easter), either part-time or full-time (up to 35 hours per week). Internships can cross over both term-time and vacation periods.
  • Ignite Internships – Over the Easter period, internal departments have the opportunity to host an intern from the Ignite Your Success programme , which are funded by Widening Participation and Social Mobility. Please email [email protected] for more information.
  • Locally advertised - What were previously ‘Nominated Internships’ have now been replaced by ‘Locally Advertised Internships.’ Please note that there is now an expectation that hosts either advertise their UoS Internships through MyCareer, or they advertise them directly to a relevant group, such as a Programme student cohort. This ensures a fair and competitive process for the relevant group. Please note that in providing the details of a selected intern in the ‘UoS Internships – Locally Advertised’ form , you will be asked to confirm that you have advertised the role locally.

  • Palaeo-Ocean-Chemistry Laboratory Assistant
