Careers, Employability and Student Enterprise provides specialist support to UoS staff in faculties, schools and departments who are looking to recruit students for internship projects throughout the year. Working across the University, we help to arrange student and graduate internships, whether you have previous experience or if you’re developing your first opportunity.
Internships facilitate the opportunity for internal departments to recruit students to get involved in a meaningful project and gain valuable work experience, whilst bringing creativity and productivity to your team. Our dedicated Employer Engagement team will support you throughout the recruitment process and beyond.

We accept internships across all areas of the University. Whether you have previous experience of hiring interns or are looking to recruit an intern for the first time, we have the expertise to guide and support you through the process.

Set up your department/team as an organisation on MyCareer . Please name your organisation 'UoS - Your faculty/department', e.g. 'UoS - Careers, Employability and Student Enterprise'. If you already have an account, you can log in and follow the steps below. |
Upload your job description |
Once your profile has been approved, upload your UoS Internship to MyCareer using the MyCareer Employer Guide instructions (pages 15-20). |
Advertise to students |
The Employer Engagement Team will review and approve your internship. Please note, internships should be advertised for a minimum of 3 weeks. |
CV book |
Once your internship closing date has passed, we will send you all of the applications in a ‘CV book’ via SafeSend. |
Shortlisting |
All applicants should be contacted and any interviews need to be arranged by the supervisor. Please note, supervisors are responsible for informing all applicants of the outcome of their application. Shortlisting should take between 1-2 weeks. |
Processing |
You must inform us once you have selected your successful intern(s). We will then manage the processing which can take up to 4 weeks. This includes Right to Work checks and eRecruit registration. |
Internship starts |
Once your intern is all processed and you have signed our Internship Agreement, your internship can begin. |
