Getting Published In...
A series of talks from publishers and authors on the process of getting published.
You're invited to An Evening of Live Storytelling which is being run in partnership between the University of Southampton and Touch, a local social enterprise, as part of our Festival of Doctoral Research.
You can listen to researchers share their own real life stories in a relaxed and informal setting.
20 May, 2016 19:30 - 22:00
Coffee #1, 204 Portswood Rd, Southampton, SO17 2NF
Tickets are £5 and there will be free tea/coffee and snacks provided.
Each of the speakers will draw on their personal experience of studying towards a PhD including the ways they have, or are, overcoming personal struggles such as managing mental health difficulties, balancing family life, coping with the loneliness of writing a thesis and managing PhD travel commitments despite a fear of flying.
All talks are intended to be real and honest, but also are hopeful and positive with a focus on overcoming, so you can expect to come away feeling touched and inspired!
Thank you so much for putting on this wonderful event. I found the whole evening incredibly inspiring. All the speakers were clear and easy to listen to. Each story was very personal and so encouraging to hear how they had managed to come through some very difficult times with such a positive attitude for the future. It made me feel that with the right belief in ourselves and a mindset that says "I can give this a try" we can all accomplish so much.
