Start your teaching career with confidence by studying on our PGCE programmes. As a student of the Southampton Education School, you will join a research-led, Russell Group, community. Our PGCE programmes

 

If you graduate from one of our PGCE courses, you will achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You will also achieve masters-level accreditation. You can opt to top-up your “M-level credits” to achieve a masters degree, which could support you to gain a leadership role.

By graduating from a university with longstanding partnerships with over 200 primary and secondary schools you’ll have a good chance of getting the right job for you. In the latest graduate outcome survey, 96.2% of our students reported achieving professional-level jobs in the UK or graduate-level further study fifteen months after graduation*.

In 2023, Ofsted judged all areas of teacher training provision at the University of Southampton to be Outstanding – the highest grade. Southampton Education School is determined to maintain its reputation for excellence as it adapts to changes in teacher training nationally.

The University of Southampton's PGCE programmes include M-level credits, giving you an immediate head start in your teaching career. Our system allows you to build, over a period of time, enough credits to proceed to a dissertation gaining a full Master's degree at your own pace.
