Water and Environment

Research in Water and the Environment is a key focus in Engineering and the Environment. Internationally respected Water and Environmental Engineers and Scientists collaborate at the interdisciplinary interface to identify and meet the key challenges in the sustainable development of water and other environmental resources to improve quality of life.

We work closely with experts representing a wide range of disciplines within the fields of water engineering, environmental engineering, physical and biological sciences, applied ecology, energy, fluid dynamics and ecohydraulics, water resource and waste management, and the social sciences.

Current research can be categorised into five broad areas: Water Engineering, Waste, Ecosystem Services , Ecological Engineering and Carbon.

In close collaboration with partners in industry, government (policy setters and regulatory bodies), and non-government organisations, our research is disseminated not only to the academic community, but also to the wider public where the outputs achieve considerable societal impact.
