Acoustic Cloaking Research wins BAE Systems ICASE award
Charlie House, PhD researcher within the ISLNE team, has been awarded the BAE Systems’ annual ICASE award for an innovative engineering approach to reduce underwater noise and protect marine wildlife.
Charlie , supervised by Dr Jordan Cheer & Professor Steve Daley , is investigating methods to apply active control technology to reduce acoustic scattering. This technique, also known as Active Acoustic Cloaking, can make an object acoustically transparent so that its presence in a sound-field has no noticeable effects in the far-field.
Charlie was competing with three other students funded under the EPSRC Industrial Cooperative Awards in Science and Technology (ICASE) scheme, and recieved this annual award for an outstanding research project.
