Before attending, as part of the course registration, we ask you to think about and share with us:
After each course has run we will offer two follow-up drop-in sessions where you can continue to consult public engagement, outreach and education experts about your ideas for activities. You can also share ideas or ask questions any time via the School-University Partnership Officer (SUPO) .
The session is aimed at researchers and research students with some public speaking/outreach/engagement experience who would like to progress to developing hands-on, interactive activities/workshops based on their research to engage school pupils.
It is recommended but not essential that participants have attended the LifeLab ‘Meet the Scientist’ training , the Introduction to Public Engagement training session by PERu or similar e.g. an Introduction Public Engagement through the Spitfire programme .
Bespoke sessions can be arranged e.g. for specific subject areas or activities - please send your request to the SUPO .
The course is delivered by a team of facilitators from various backgrounds including teachers, teacher trainers and members of the university's Outreach team . It is part of the legacy of the Talk to US! project and builds on the learning captured in the Talk to US! Building School-University Partnerships Guide Book .
We aim to run this course approximately once per term, with follow-up drop in sessions available approximately 3 and 6 months after each course has run.
Our training schedule has been affected by COVID19 lockdowns, but we hope to be resuming delivery of this session during 2022/23 - please check our SharePoint training page for updates.
