I chose the University of Southampton because it was recommended by my Polish tutor, who told me the University has a very strong Jewish Studies Institute (The Parkes Institute). As a history student with interests in Jewish history and culture, I found this most appropriate. I applied for a one-year MA course and a scholarship from the Parkes Institute. I received a positive response after three weeks and so I became a student of the University of Southampton in Jewish History and Culture with a Parkes scholarship
