A keynote lecture will mark the launch of the new Centre for Law, Ethics and Globalisation

The Centre for Law Ethics and Globalisation launches on Thursday 23 April. To mark this occasion Professor Emilios Christodoulidis‚ Professor of Legal Theory at the University of Glasgow‚ will be giving a keynote lecture entitled “Global Injustice and Democratic Redress: Reflections on the Function of a Critical Legal Theory.” Professor Christodoulidis will discuss the extent to which law can critically and democratically respond to the challenge posed by global injustice and by possible global society.

The Centre for Law, Ethics and Globalisation will bring together leading scholars and thinkers to encourage wide-ranging critical reflection on what role law may play in the process of globalisation, which affects our lives and the lives of others around the world. It aims to spark discussion and debate in fields such as politics, economics and history, not only across the University, but locally, nationally and internationally, influencing thinking and informing policy making.

Further to this the Bond Pearce Annual European Law Lecture
entitled “Collective Redress for Breach of Competition Law -What Hope of Reform?” by The Honourable Mr Justice Barling who is the President of the Competition Appeal Tribunal will take place on Thursday 30 April.
