If you are involved in any way with admitting A–level physics students to your courses‚ you are cordially invited to join Hampshire Sixth Form College physics teachers for tea at 3pm on 1 June 2009 in the Seminar Room‚ National Oceanography Centre.
This is part of a study and update day for Hampshire College physics teachers and lecturers which will include their participation in a discussion with physicists from across the University relating to the impact of the new GCSE and A–level physics on teaching and learning‚ and the uptake of physics and physics related courses in universities.
Points for discussion include:
• New (1st year 2008/9) A level content (and the effects of new GCSE: first examined 2008) and how this may impact on students applying in 2010.
• What is ‘How Science Works’?
• Possible involvement of the university in investigative projects
• General networking.
