The composition of Council‚ the governing body of the University‚ includes representatives of the support staff. There will be a vacancy in this class of membership from 1 April 2010.
Members of staff in the Management‚ Specialist and Administrative‚ Technical and Experimental or the Community and Operational job families are invited to apply to join the governing body. (The Council is ultimately responsible for the overall planning and management of financial and physical resources‚ commercial and trading activities‚ and legal and contractual matters.) This is an opportunity to participate in the discussions at the highest level about the development of the institution during the next phase of planning its future.
If you would like to put yourself forward‚ please send your curriculum vitae – a brief one will suffice – together with a statement giving the reasons why you would like to be appointed to the role of Council member to Caroline Gamble in the Secretariat‚ Office of the University Secretary (George Thomas Building), by 18 March 2010. Your application should be supported by ten members of staff who are not academics.
The applications will be considered by the Nominations Committee at its meeting on 25 March 2010. The period of appointment will run initially for three years.
