Established in 1989‚ from an endowment from the Spanish Ambassador‚ the Wellington Lecture is given each year on aspects of the life and times of the first Duke of Wellington.
This lecture‚ to be given by Professor David Howarth‚ looks at the visual image of Wellington during his own lifetime‚ from high art for the Royal Family to more populist takes.
Professor David Howarth has had a long-standing interest in relations between Britain and Spain. He is a specialist in early modern European visual culture and teaches on Golden Age Spain.
