Experience a journey into space at the University’s new public lecture series

Staff, students and members of the public are invited to experience what it is like to travel into space in the first of a new public lecture series being launched by the University.

In the first TEAtime lecture on Thursday 21 October‚ Dr Angelo Grubisic will discuss effects of space on the human body and a brief history of space travel.

Lecture attendees will also have the chance to experience the effects of space travel on their bodies to prepare them for their journey to space.

Dr Grubisic has worked for NASA and was in the shortlist to be the UK’s first astronaut. He has recently completed his PhD on developing and testing new kinds of highly fuel-efficient plasma rocket engines and his research contributes to the launching satellites and shuttles into space.

Professor William Powrie, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Environment, says: “The TEAtime lecture series is a wonderful opportunity for those interested in science, maths or engineering to gain an understanding of the innovative and world-leading research undertaken at University of Southampton.”

This lecture forms part of TEAtime public lecture series, aimed at connecting fundamental content of maths and science to current research being undertaken at University of Southampton.

The hour-long lecture begins at 6pm. The lecture is free but booking is required by calling 023 8059 8710.
