Now in its second year, Excel Southampton (organised by Student Services) provides structured internship opportunities to our students, enabling them to hone key employability skills whilst contributing to the needs of their host department. The call for interest is now open to services and academic departments who would like to host a summer intern in 2011.
Through a combination of funding support from the Student Centredness Budget (SCB) and alumni donations, there are 35 placement opportunities available. Placements will run for a three month period (12 weeks) from Monday 4 July to Friday 23 September 2011.
The Student Centeredness Budget and Alumni donations will provide 50 per cent of the student’s overall costs, with the host service or academic department supplying the remaining 50 per cent. Career Destinations will help facilitate the advertisement and recruitment process and be available during the programme to provide support and mentoring to the interns.
