University closure: Friday 3 December

Due to the freezing conditions forecast for the next 24 hours, the University will remain closed on Friday 3 December, to safeguard the personal safety of staff and students.

There will be no access to University buildings on any of the campuses, apart from halls of residence.

Despite the closure, staff will be paid for tomorrow. However, the University will expect staff to make their best endeavours to work from home, providing they are not faced with unexpected carer responsibilities. Members of staff who are essential for maintaining the infrastructure of the University will be contacted by their line managers.

If staff members have organised events or are expecting external visitors, they should ensure that these people are informed of the closure.

Students who were scheduled for lectures, assessments or exams will not be disadvantaged and alternative arrangements will be made.

The temperatures are expected to rise towards the end of Friday and the University plans to operate normally again from Saturday morning.

Please check the website regularly for future updates.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor
