Future of Registrar and Chief Operating Officer role

Following consultation with senior colleagues‚ the Chair of Council and Treasurer‚ and consideration of models used in comparator universities‚ the position of Registrar and Chief Operating Officer will‚ in the future‚ be divided into two new posts.

The key responsibilities of these two positions will in the future be allocated as follows:

University Registrar

Student Services

Student and Academic Administration

Communications and Marketing

Development and Alumni Relations

International Office

Faculty Operating Officers

University Librarian

University Secretary 

Chief Operating Officer

Finance *

Human Resources

Estates and Facilities

IT/ISolutions

Research and Innovation Services

Corporate Services

* There will no longer be a Chief Financial Officer role, but there will be a Finance Director role.

Both the Registrar and COO will form part of the University Executive Group and report directly to the Vice-Chancellor. They will have a shared responsibility for ensuring consistency in the central management and local Faculty responsiveness of our Professional Services.

Both positions will be considered “new positions” and will be advertised for open competition in January 2011. The Job Descriptions are currently being finalised and should be available in January 2011.
