Pro Vice-Chancellor Alistair Fitt appointed to new role at Oxford Brookes

Professor Alistair Fitt has been appointed Pro Vice–Chancellor (Research) at Oxford Brookes University and will take up his new role on 14 March 2011.

Professor Fitt first joined the University in 1989 as a Lecturer in the then Faculty of Mathematical studies. He rose to the position of Head of School of Mathematics in 2003 after which he took up his current role as Pro Vice–Chancellor in April 2008.

Vice–Chancellor‚ Professor Don Nutbeam‚ says “Alistair has made a significant contribution to the University in his 21 years at Southampton. I am personally grateful for the energetic and inventive leadership he has shown in his role as Pro Vice-Chancellor, in taking forward the University’s ambitions abroad. We wish him well in his new role at Oxford Brookes.

I will be consulting with senior staff on the future of the PVC (International) role, and expect to be able to make an announcement on the outcome of this discussion later in the month.”
