The Inaugural Lecture of Professor George Bernard – 25 January , 6pm

This Inaugural Lecture will reflect on the life and death of Anne Boleyn‚ Henry VIII’s second queen‚ on how Professor Bernard came to write her biography‚ and on the larger historical issues raised. The lecture will aim to shed fresh light on the life‚ and especially the circumstances of the fall of Anne Boleyn.

Professor George Bernard is a Professor of Early Modern History and specialises in Tudor history and in particular the history of the reformation. He is also editor of the English Historical Review. He completed, thanks to an award from the Arts and Humanities Research Council, a study of Anne Boleyn, and also a groundbreaking new biography entitled: Anne Boleyn: Fatal Attractions which was published in April 2010. His other recent work include: The King’s Reformation: Henry VIII & the Remaking of the English Church (Yale, 2005), and Power & Politics in Tudor England (2007).

Venue: Lecture Theatre A, Building 65, Avenue Campus, followed by a wine reception in the Avenue cafe at 7pm.
