Students have the opportunity to improve their employability skills and build up their CV whilst gaining valuable work experience with the Career Destinations Placement Programmes. Opportunities are based with companies across the UK and within the University’s Faculties and Services; the placements will run for 4 weeks at Easter and 12 weeks over summer 2011.
In the current economic climate good academic results may not be enough to stand out from the crowd. Research has shown that students who participate in work based learning activities experience far greater success in achieving graduate level employment on completion of their studies. Interns who partake in the Career Destinations Placement Programmes will earn a competitive pay packet in addition to the value of the professional experience gained.
Three Programmes are currently available:
South East Placement Programme
• 4 week Easter placement opportunity within organisations based in the South East region of the UK (Monday 4th April – Friday 28th April 2011)

Excel Southampton – On Campus Placement Programme
• 12 week summer placement opportunity within the University’s Schools and Services (Monday 4th July – Friday 23rd September 2011)

Excel Southampton – UK Placement Programme
• 12 week summer placement opportunity with organisations based in the UK (Monday 4th July – Friday 23rd September 2011)
