Tuesday 8th March is International Women’s Day‚ and this year is the centenary of the event. To celebrate this prestigious occasion‚ the University of Southampton has organised a series of events throughout the week.
This afternoon (Tuesday – 12:00–18:00) sees a full programme of discussions and lectures to mark the achievements of women in the University.
12:30 Debra Humphris (PVC Education) will launch the event in the Hartley Suite, followed by the announcement of the photography competition results.
13:00 Inés Teresa-Palacio leads a panel discussion: “Celebrating the richness of experience of international female students at the University of Southampton”.
14:00 Deena Gornick, a UK-based psychotherapist, speaks on “Conquering the Impostor Syndrome”.
16:30 A panel of five prominent women from the law profession discuss their experiences and answer questions.
This evening is the International Women’s Day Dinner, and tomorrow is the “Sound of Breaking Glass” – a workshop looking at the barriers to career progression of female staff.
