Awards from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) – application period now open

The Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientists and the Fellowship for Young International Scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientists provides funds to accomplished researchers with PhD degrees with senior academic positions who are either currently or were previously working in renowned universities‚ research institutes or multi–national corporations to participate in research in CAS for 2–12 months.

The grant covers:

Salary, daily living allowance and health insurance, from 400,000 to 500,000 RMB (pre-tax) per year

A round-trip (economy-class) international airfare between the airport located nearest to the visitor’s home and that nearest to the host institute.

The Fellowship for Young International Scientists supports academic exchanges and cooperation between CAS institutes and international institutes and universities and the development of talented scientists, by attracting young international scientists to conduct cooperative research at CAS institutes for 12 months. It provides for visits of 12 months duration and may be extended by agreement for a further period of up to 12 months.

The grant covers:

Salary, daily living allowance and health insurance, between 150,000 and 250,000 RMB (pre-tax) per year

A round-trip (economy-class) international airfare between the airport located nearest to the visitor’s home and that nearest to the host institute.

Applications to both schemes can be submitted by a CAS host institute or by a foreign partner institute of CAS during 2 periods each year. The first period for 2011 runs from 1 March to 31 March.
