Winchester School of Art plans to hold a Summer Woven Textiles Week from Monday 11 – Friday 15 July 2011.
The course will introduce you to basic weave structures and hand weaving techniques used to create experimental and introductory woven textile samples. You will be encouraged to express your creativity using handlooms and will be encouraged to gain an understanding of the properties of yarns in weave design and structure. All students will be provided with an individual handloom.
Sharon Kearley, a Textiles Designer (www.sharonkearley.com), who creates exclusive, highly contemporary, hand woven pieces, will lead the course. Sessions run from 10am to 4pm over five days and cost £165 per person, including materials, with an hour’s lunch between 1-2pm, when the School’s café – Lattes – will be open serving a range of hot and cold food and beverages.
