Reminder: Travel Survey 2011

So far over 2‚100 people have responded to the 2011 Travel Survey‚ which is a 21 per cent response rate. This is excellent‚ but we still need as many staff and post graduates to respond as possible to help inform the University’s travel plan and allow us to see whether travel habits have changed since the last survey in 2009.

You can complete the survey on-line at http://www.planning.soton.ac.uk/public/travelstaff2011/ and it should only take you about 10 minutes. Alternatively, please contact Adam Tewkesbury, Transport Operations Manager ([email protected]; Ext 23828), if you would like to receive a hard copy. We would also appreciate it if you could let colleagues who may not have access to a PC know about the survey and how they can get copies of the survey. You can also contact Adam if you have any questions about the survey or transport issues in general.

If you complete the survey you will automatically be entered into a prize draw, where you could win:

First prize: Eurostar tickets (The winner will receive a voucher for a pair of Eurostar tickets to the value of £250)

Second prize: One of five £100 vouchers (to be redeemed at the University’s Sports Centre or against a new bike or against a Uni-link annual pass)

Third prize: One of two sets of cycle accessories (Specialized bike helmet and Cat-Eye bike lights, courtesy of Hargroves Cycles)

Fourth prize: One of two £50 vouchers for cycle accessories at Peter Hansford Cycles

Fifth prize: One of five pre-charged Uni-link monthly bus passes

Good Luck! The survey closes at midnight on 15 July 2011 and the prize draw will take place in the following week.

The University aims to reduce its overall environmental impact of staff and student travel to and from University sites, of business related travel and of travel by visitors and suppliers.

We recognise that our activities contribute to traffic congestion and pollution; and, on a wider scale how these activities contribute to carbon emissions directly linked to climate change.

Through our actions we can all make a difference.
