Calling all academic staff in every Faculty: Would you like a free PhD student?

The Web Science Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) is holding one of our regular Supervisor Forum meetings open to all potential supervisors for our growing cohort of RCUK fully funded students. Web Science DTC students are expected to have supervisors from two different academic disciplines. This meeting of the Supervisor Forum is your chance to meet the current MSc Web Science students who are all seeking multi–disciplinary supervisors for their MSc summer project 2012 and PhD programme 2012 to 2015. We will use this session as a speed networking opportunity where you can meet each student in turn. Please join us to share research ideas with our Web Science students.

Save the date: 19th January 2012, 2pm up to 4.30pm followed by drinks and canapés. Reserve your place NOW by emailing [email protected]

Not yet a member of the DTC Supervisor Forum? – Not a problem. You can still reserve your place at the meeting and join the forum mailing list by emailing Claire Wyatt at [email protected]

What is the Web Science Supervisor Forum?

The Web Science supervisor forum is an integral part of the Web Science Doctoral Training Centre. Web Science DTC students are expected to have supervisors from two different academic disciplines. The Web Science supervisor forum is made up of all these supervisors. It seeks to provide a scholarly community that will engage with Web Science and the training programme offered in the DTC to extend our research and education agenda. The forum aims to enable staff engagement (e.g. exploring joint research opportunities) and opportunities for training and development (e.g. sharing best practice for interdisciplinary supervision) as well as developing and sharing information about the DTC, e.g. quality assurance processes , student exchanges with international web science labs, placements with our industrial partners, etc.
