Following the November’s Energy Audit of Chemistry‚ Mark Turner and Jodie Barker – the University’s Energy Officers – will deliver a Seminar on Wednesday 18th January at 15.00hrs in the Main Lecture Theatre.
Mark and Jodie will give an overview of the University’s recently adopted Carbon Management Plan, which aims to reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2020 (from a 2005/06 baseline). Achieving this will mean a significant change in culture across all parts of the University and this is particularly important in highly energy and water intensive departments like Chemistry.
A number of technical projects are underway in the Chemistry buildings but, in order for them to succeed, it will be necessary for us in the Chemistry Department to play our part by adopting more energy and water efficient ways of working and these will be discussed at the seminar.
