Centre for Law, Ethics and Globalisation Annual Lecture: The Future of the International Criminal Court – 18:00 – 20:00, 2 February 2012

Given by Professor William A. Schabas.

As the Court enters its second decade‚ it is addressing many of the world’s major human rights crises. The institution has garnered broad support‚ with a solid base of States Parties and the confidence of the United Nations Security Council. At the same time, it is struggling to finish its first trials and seems increasingly overwhelmed by the growing number of arrest warrants, prisoners and situations under examination. The talk will examine the Court critically, and will attempt to pinpoint areas for attention and improvement.
