Booking is now open for the BSA Climate Change Study Group seminar on “Methodological and conceptual approaches for researching climate change at different societal scales” on the 30th/31st of March 2012.
The seminar aims to reflect upon the methodological and/or conceptual challenges that sociological research on climate change at different societal scales poses (e.g. household, local, regional or national), and the ways in which researchers have innovated methodological tools and/or conceptual approaches to address these challenges.
The morning session includes presentations from invited speakers including:

• Dr Pauline Leonard, University of Southampton
• Professor Patrick Devine-Wright, University of Exeter
• Professor Elizabeth Shove, University of Lancaster
• Dr Heather Lovell, University of Edinburgh
The afternoon session consists of a series of 6 workshops on the themes of:
• Conceptualising climate change
• Media, communications and mixed methods
• Methodological approaches
• Climate change at individual and household scales
• Researching the multi-level and local dimensions of climatechange
• Practices and policies in international perspective
