Notice for staff regarding SUSU elections

You may be aware that the 2012 Sabbatical & Trustee Elections are now underway‚ as nominations opened earlier this week.

This is a really important and exciting time for SUSU‚ as we look to find the next team of Sabbatical Officers who will lead the Students’ Union as an organisation, represent over 22,000 students enrolled at the University of Southampton and work to make a real difference to the lives of our members.

There are 9 different roles being elected, including 6 full-time paid Sabbatical Officers:

Union President
Vice President Academic Affairs
Vice President Communications
Vice President Sports Development
Vice President Student Engagement
Vice President Welfare & Communities

Alongside these we will also be looking for part-time Student Leaders and Trustees:

Equality & Diversity Officer
Ethical & Environmental Officer
Student Trustee without Portfolio (4 positions available)

To make sure that we get a range of great candidates for these roles, this year we are not only asking students to nominate themselves but are also looking to the wider university community to suggest students who they think would be great for these roles.

So if you know a student who would be a great Sabbatical Officer or Trustee, please let us know by visiting www.susu.org/suggest so that we can contact them with more details and let them know how to nominate themselves.

With your help, we hope to find the next group of students to take SUSU forward and continue to develop towards our Union Plan to 2015.

Best wishes,
Joseph McLoughlin
Vice President Communications
