The University of Southampton is well–represented in Malaysia this week as a delegation visits the country to generate further interest in our new campus in the country.
Led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Don Nutbeam, the group is visiting the USMC (University of Southampton Malaysia Campus) at Educity in Johor Bahru in the south of the Malaysian peninsula. The University is working in Malaysia in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and partner Iskandar Investment Berhad to develop facilities for students who will initially enrol in our renowned degree in Mechanical Engineering – available outside of the UK for the first time ever from this autumn.
The group, including Professor Mark Spearing, Pro Vice-Chancellor International and Professor John McBride, CEO of the Malaysia Campus, will help to increase awareness and reinforce the University’s commitment to the engaging further within the region through a series of events to attract Malaysian alumni, potential partners for the future and the media supported by the British Council.
Professor Dame Wendy Hall, Dean of the University’s Faculty of Physical and Applied Sciences, is amongst those visiting. She will join with Professor Nigel Shadbolt to deliver a guest lecture on ‘Web Science and the future of Open Data’ at the University of Malaya.
