Working in partnership with HE STEM, Generating Genius is running a series of training sessions for widening participation departments, outreach officers and admissions tutors, to help them reach target groups and improve the quality of their outreach activities and programmes. We will be hosting a free training session at the University of Southampton on 30th April 2012 (9am – 3.30pm).
Generating Genius is an education charity that has successfully enabled inner-city pupils from state schools to gain places at Russell Group universities. It has developed a world-class methodology and e-mentoring service, which it has now developed into a training programme.
The workshop will include:
1. How to identify academic talent in under-represented communities
2.The creation of out-of-school programmes to develop and enhance talented students
3.How to encourage students to aspire to study at top-tier universities and how to help them if they decide to apply
4.How to develop a research and evaluation model that can track the effectiveness of interventions that are used.
