Computationally Intensive Imaging USRG Launch – Thursday 31st May

On behalf of Prof. Ian Sinclair, Dr. Bill Brocklesby and Prof. Jeremy Frey, co-Chairs of the Computationally Intensive Imaging (CII) University Strategic Research Group , I am delighted to invite you to the launch of this new university–wide group on Thursday 31st May 2012 in Building 6, Room 1077.

Who should attend: University academics and research staff with interests at all levels of the development and/or application of digital imaging: from raw data acquisition and signal processing, to image analysis and digital curation.

Computation may be identified as a core element of virtually all major imaging developments in recent years. The CII group provides a forum for cross-university interactions, bringing together and leveraging the many world-class imaging capabilities that exist at Southampton. We aim to increase awareness of skills and new developments in computationally-enabled imaging, allowing access to new techniques and identifying new applications and partnerships.

Objectives: This meeting will give an introduction to the aims and processes of the group, along with technical presentations by leading academics within the university.

Autumn Event: In October, the CII USRG will be presenting a talk by guest speaker Richard Waltham, on “Godfrey Hounsfield: Intuitive Genius of Computed Tomography”. Details to follow shortly, October 2012 at Turner Sims, Highfield Campus.

Further details are available on the multidisciplinary website.
