Many of you will have noted that the Royal Mail has recently revised their pricing structure. This will mean an increase on mail across their network. These changes come into effect on 30 April 2012.
In light of this the Post and Portering Team have been researching the best way to respond to this change. Dave Caws, Post and Portering Manager comments: “There are other companies offering mail services for the UK and overseas markets which have been explored, and continue to be monitored. Currently it still remains a cheaper and quicker option for the University to send mail via the Post Room using the Royal Mail First and Second class services.
“The Royal Mail has also been instructed to charge VAT on all EU mailings they handle, this has been the case for all opposition mail companies from the start of their operations. As a result of this we are currently talking to another overseas Post Company about potentially using their services at a cost saving to us, if this is a viable option more information about who they are will be posted at a later date.”
