Professor Dame Wendy Hall will be sharing her favourite classical tracks on BBC Radio 3’s ‘Essential Classics’ programme next week

During the week commencing 18 June, Dame Wendy will join presenters Rob Cowan and Sarah Walker to share music that has a strong personal connection to her life and career. Dame Wendy will talk about which music best helps her to relax, what makes her laugh, and what piece of music she most likes to play.

Dame Wendy talks of her love of music during the programmes revealing her own talent as a Grade 8 pianist though she admits a preference for something with a bit more ‘pop’ or ‘rock’ in it these days!

Amongst her selections over the five days she will appear on the programme, Dame Wendy has included ‘Summer’ from Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’ performed by Nigel Kennedy and Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in C sharp minor played by Wilhelm Kempff.

BBC Radio 3’s ‘Essential Classics’ is broadcast Monday to Friday from 9.00-12:00. Dame Wendy’s slot is from 10:30 – 11:00 each morning that week. Tune in on 90-93 FM, on DAB or via the website www.bbc.co.uk/radio3
