Learning more about our successes: Lectures introducing our research on the day of our Staff Party – 27 July

Our Staff Party on the afternoon of 27 July is an opportunity for us to celebrate the successes of our University over the last 60 years.

As part of the celebrations, three of our academics will be sharing their world-changing research through staff lectures on the morning of the party. This will be a great opportunity to find out more about some of the incredible research that we carry out here at Southampton and about the impact it’s having around the world.

These lectures are open to all members of staff on a first come first served basis. You can attend one, or stay for all three.

You are welcome to just turn up on the day, but please email [email protected] if you have any special access requirements. Please remember to discuss with your line manager in advance.

All three lectures will take place in the large lecture theatre on the ground floor of the Health Sciences building (67). The line-up is:

9.30amDr Graeme Earl from Archaeology delivers his lecture: ‘Portus and the Digital Humanities: Multidisciplinary Research in Cultural Heritage’

10.30amProfessor Ajit Shenoi, Director of the new Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute, delivers: ‘Light… but strong and safe? The design of plastic ships and boats’

11.30amProfessor Hazel Inskip from Medicine introduces her group’s research: ‘The Southampton Women’s Survey: from observation to interventions to improve health’
