Free Olympic Games Opening Ceremony rehearsals tickets

Please note that all of these tickets have now been allocated.

Podium (The Further and Higher Education Unit for London 2012) has allocated the University of Southampton a number of free “Standing Area” tickets for the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony rehearsals on Monday 23 July and Wednesday 25 July.

With a cast of thousands, dazzling choreography, stunning sets, and incredible special effects, the Opening Ceremony will be one of the highlights of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

These tickets are available for University staff and studentsand are intended for 18-30 year olds. Anyone who appears under the age of 18 may be asked to show ID and ultimately refused entry to the Olympic Park. Therefore Podium recommend all attendees bring a Passport or Driving Licence with them where possible. Despite the upper age limit for this event being 30, Podium have said that a small number of the party can be over this age in a supervisory capacity.

During the rehearsal, you will be unable to sit down, and for reasons of poor sightlines and Health and Safety, these tickets are not suitable for those who require wheelchair access or who are unable to stand for long periods of time. Full guidelines will be sent to you with your tickets and electronically later this week.

If you would like to attend, please email Media Relations at [email protected] with your name and contact details by 11am on Friday 20 July. Please also specify which day you would like to attend. Note that you will be responsible for making your own way to the venue.
