Southampton University and College Union are holding a Career Development Seminar for early-career academics and fixed-term contract staff on 1 August from 10AM-12PM, in room 67/1007 (Nightingale Building). The seminar is intended to help you understand your rights and responsibilities, as well as provide advice on how to prepare for the next stage in your career.
The seminar is open to all early-career academics and fixed-term contract staff at the University, regardless of UCU membership status.
It will cover a range of topics including: transferable skills; training and development opportunities; research careers; fixed-term contracts; writing CVs; fellowships and lectureships; the Concordat for Researchers; the Research Excellence Framework; mentoring; probation, probation and redeployment procedures; CROS; planning, appraisal and setting objectives.
