Congratulations to Pavlos Kontides who has made history by clinching the silver medal in the Men’s Laser sailing competition at London 2012.
The 22-year-old finished 10th in today’s final medal round but still placed second overall to become the first person from Cyprus to win an Olympic medal. Laser world champion Tom Slingsby won gold for Australia.
Pavlos has completed two years of study on the MEng in Ship Science. He has suspended his studies over the past two academic years in order to compete in all major sailing events in preparation for this year.
