Gender equality focus groups: Promotion and long-term leave

Dates are now established for University-wide focus groups, looking at gender equality aspects of promotion and long-term leave (maternity, paternity, adoption, career breaks, etc.).

Men and women in all career pathways are encouraged to take part if they are interested in these topics.

A focus group looking at the experiences and expectations of those who have applied for, or are thinking of applying for promotion. How open and transparent is the process? How fair is the process to men and women? What consideration is there for part-time staff?

Another group will focus on men and women’s experiences of applying for, taking and returning from long-term leave, to care for newborns or young children, disabled or infirm relatives or other career breaks. How has it affected career opportunities? What support was provided? What more can be done?

Focus groups take place at lunch time on 25th September (promotions) and 27th September (long-term leave) on Highfield Campus. Full details at http://southampton.likn.co/diversity/gender/athena_swan.page
