Green Label Project – communicating the environmental and ethical credentials of products sold on campus

A Green Label Project was initiated by students last year to help all of us to choose environmentally and ethically sound products when we’re shopping in outlets across the University.

The project started with 60 students providing feedback on the issues that they care about the most. Their ideas provided the basis for the six labels that were developed – pictured right.

The process of rolling out these labels to the SUSU shop and cafe is well underway, and the team, which has developed a criteria for each of the labels, aims to roll out the scheme to other outlets over the next term.

Keep an eye out next time you’re in the shop or cafe – and for more information, visit the revamped sustainability website: http://southampton.likn.co/susdev/procurement_and_waste/green_label.html
