Why stop learning? Find out more about Lifelong Learning at the University

At the University of Southampton, we believe that learning shouldn’t stop when formal education ends; in fact, this should only be the beginning of a life spent in the pursuit of knowledge. To help Southampton maintain its youthful vibrancy, we are pleased to be offering a wide variety of evening courses and study days to the public in 2012/13, promoting learning beyond the immediate University environment and providing engaging activities to the wider community.

We currently offer evening courses in Modern Languages, English Literature, History, Jewish Studies and Archaeology, plus free Philosophy lectures and Music concerts taking place at lunchtimes and on the weekend. For people who have less time to commit to a longer course or who are beginning to explore an interest in a particular topic, we also hold regular, one-day cultural events consisting of a series of short talks on a particular theme that are led by experts from within the University – upcoming topics include ‘Literature and Landscapes’, ‘Court and Port: Life in Tudor London and Southampton’ and ‘Change and Continuity: The Impact of the Holocaust’.

Our courses are for everyone, so whether you are looking to develop your career, study for personal enjoyment or simply wish to take the next step towards higher education, our excellent learning facilities and approachable staff will ensure you receive the best level of learning possible.
