We have 2 pairs of tickets to give away for Tuesday (23 October) evening’s song recital with John Mark Ainsley and Roger Vignoles at Turner Sims.
Beethoven An die ferne Geliebte
Schumann Liederkreis
Schumann Dichterliebe
One of the country’s most celebrated tenors and distinguished pianists combine for a recital featuring some of the outstanding works for voice and piano. Beethoven’s stormy An die ferne Geliebte (To the Distant Beloved), is the composer’s only song cycle, a sequence of love songs to a faraway lover that are full of heartfelt longing and inner turmoil. The recital also includes one of the best-loved song cycles in the repertoire: Schumann’s Dichterliebe (A Poet’s Love), was written in the composer’s prolific ‘Year of Song’ 1840 to words by Heinrich Heine. A poignant work, it follows a journey from passion to disillusion as a young writer realises his love is not returned.
To be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets simply answer the following question:
