Healthy control participants required for MS study

Researchers are seeking individuals to take part in a multiple sclerosis study as part of a healthy control group, which involves repeated saliva sampling over four days. Reimbursement for taking part is £40.

We are seeking individuals (mainly between 30yrs and 50yrs) to participate in this research. We are looking to examine the relative influences of daily stressors and cortisol (a hormone measured here in saliva) on certain aspects of daily experience.

This involves carrying a handheld device around with you for four consecutive weekdays, and responding to audible prompts by sampling saliva using a swab procedure and answering relevant questions via the device itself.

Full participation involves: (1) an initial training session held at the Shackleton Building (1 hour); (2) four consecutive days of sampling; (3) a debriefing session held at the Shackleton (20 mins); and (4) 6-month follow-up questionnaires by post (approximately 10 mins).

To be eligible, participants must have no chronic or acute illnesses/conditions, not be taking any prescribed medications, and must not be pregnant.

To receive a participant information sheet, and for further details about the study, please contact Daniel Powell (PhD Research Student) at [email protected] or call 023 8059 4719 (x.24719 for internal calls).
