If you’re a student with a passion for motor racing the University’s Formula Student Team needs you.
Formula Student is a testing ground for the next generation of world-class engineers. It challenges university students from around the world to design and build a single-seat racing car, which is then put to the test next summer at the famous Silverstone Circuit.
Southampton’s team of volunteers involves undergraduate and postgraduate students from across the University who are devoting their free time over the coming months to designing and building a car for testing in April ahead of the main competition in July. The team is seeking sponsorship but has already received financial support from the University’s Alumni Fund with further support secured from the Student Centredness Fund.
The Southampton team already has student members from all Faculties but with a large skillset required to make the project a success, further students are needed to with an interest and/or experience in engineering, project management, marketing and other disciplines.
Anyone wishing to find out more can email the team captain and Physics student Szymon Prajs via email – [email protected]. The team is also on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/USMRT/) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/SUFST).
Current team members will be happy to bring all new members up to speed. With the University’s pedigree in providing graduates who now work for virtually all of the world’s F1 teams, the Southampton Formula Student challenge is in pole position for success.
