Policy Commissions competition launched

We are delighted to announce the launch of Public Policy@Southampton’s inaugural Policy Commissions competition. We have a budget of £30,000 for funding policy commissions this year. The maximum funding for any one Policy Commission is £15,000.

Successful applications will bring together the expertise of world-leading academics with the expertise and experience of key policy-makers and practitioners. Policy Commissions will be funded for the purpose of addressing issues of social, cultural, economic and political importance. The Policy Commissions will facilitate the collaborative examination and analysis of particular issues by academics and policy makers for the purpose of moving debates forward and for formulating practical policy recommendations.

Applications should ideally include a balance of face-to-face (e.g. debates, public-enquiries, workshops, policy briefings and sand pits, etc.) and on-line activities. Applications can include fixed term, part-time research assistance (to produce briefing reports, state of knowledge reports, and to write up short reports and policy briefings). All activities must be completed within 6 months of receiving the grant.

Principal applicants must be University of Southampton academics – applications can include researcher partners from other Universities. We welcome applications that bring matched funding and we are keen to support multiple badged events (including, RCUK and other externally funded projects, Research Centres, USRGs, Institutes, and other partner organisations).
