Distinguished Lecture Programme – Professor Dr Uwe Kruger PhD, Chief Executive Officer, Atkins – Monday 26 November

Atkins Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dr Uwe Krueger PhD, will deliver a lecture on the Highfield Campus next week entitled:

“Tackling the engineering challenges of the 21st Century”

Atkins established in 1938, (www.atkinsglobal.com) is the world’s 14th largest global design firm, the world’s largest global architecture firm and is ranked as one of the top 3 firms in the United States.

The lecture will be introduced and chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Don Nutbeam.

Professor Dr Uwe Kruger

Prior to Atkins from February 2010 to July 2011 Prof Dr Uwe Krueger, was President of Cleantech Switzerland, a Swiss export platform that provides support to companies in the area of sustainability on behalf of the Swiss Federal Government. In addition he served as Senior Advisor for TPG Capital. Until September 2009 he was CEO of Oerlikon Group, a $4 billion Swiss company, whose six business units included a solar division.

He began his career at the international strategy consulting firm A.T. Kearney, followed by several positions at Hochtief AG, an $18 billion international provider of construction and engineering services.

He currently serves on the board of several international high-tech companies, for example he is a Director of STR Holdings Inc. in Enfield/CT, of San Diego-based Zementis, Inc., of SUSI Partners AG in Zurich and of Ontex SA, Zele/Belgium.

As an honorary professor of physics he lectures at the University of Frankfurt.

The lecture will be followed by a Q & A session which will be chaired by the Vice-Chancellor.
