Sustainability Science at Southampton USRG – Join today!

You are warmly invited to join the Sustainability Science at Southampton (SSS) University Strategic Research Group (USRG). All staff & students are welcome.

Sustainability Science at Southampton (SSS) is an internationally recognised centre of interdisciplinary research excellence advancing the understanding of complex socio-ecological systems, taking the lead in innovation for sustainability and making a significant contribution towards alleviating some of society’s global dilemmas. The group is part of the University’s wider agenda on multidisciplinary research and is chaired by Professor John Dearing, Dr Felix Eigenbrod and Dr James Dyke. SSS is structured around a number of core research themes that reflect excellence in research across the University, including:

1. Development and ecosystem services

2. Complex socio-ecological systems

3. Biodiversity and ecosystem services

4. Adapting to Climate Change

The sustainability challenges facing humankind require the concerted efforts of researchers from across disciplines and around the world to solve. To this end, the SSS University Strategic Research Group (USRG) offers an easy overview of cutting-edge research and initiatives in Sustainability Science based at University of Southampton. SSS facilitates the sharing of knowledge, networking and expertise in the most current research results pertaining to its core four research themes: development & ecosystem services; complex socio-ecological systems; biodiversity and ecosystem services; and adapting to climate change. In addition to active cooperation with researchers around the world, SSS organizes a range of activities (seminars, workshops, conferences, reading clubs) here at the university to raise the profile of SSS research, share knowledge and provide networking opportunities to further our understanding of SSS research. As a member, you will also benefit from receiving the latest news about funding opportunities and research developments in the field of Sustainability Science.
